Carole Desbarats

Associate of letters, lecturer, Carole Desbarats taught French course in college then Cinema course at the University of Toulouse. She directed studies at the French cinema school La Femis from 1996 to 2009 and then created the communication center of the École Normale Supérieure. She is also a film critic and essay writer. She is the author of several essays on Éric Rohmer, Jean-Luc Godard, Atom Egoyan and contributes to the magazine Esprit. Today, she is the artistic director of the Rencontres du Havre on TV Series. Since 1994, she has supported the work of the Les Enfants de Cinéma association (one of the French national cinema education by images program) in its research on Education by Images. Her last book published is Childhoods of cinema in 2022. This essay deals with the representation of children in cinema.

Jérôme Baron

Jérôme Baron is born in Nantes in 1970. After studying cinema at Paris VIII and Paris III Universities (doctoral studies) and a Master’s degree in Civilisation at Nantes University, he taught documentary film aesthetics and directing at the Master’s degree in creative documentaries at the University of Poitiers from 1998 to 2007, and since 2001, the history of cinema in the Ciné-Sup preparatory class at the Lycée Guist’hau. He has also taught at the audiovisual course of the Lycée Léonard de Vinci in Montaigu and at the École Nationale d’Architecture in Nantes. Since 2004, he has chaired and then co-chaired the association Le Cinématographe – CinéNantes Loire-Atlantique, a space for film distribution and public “education in the image” (cinema educational program), and worked for the first time on the programming of the Festival des 3 Continents, he has been its artistic director since 2010. He gives numerous lectures on different cinematographies or aesthetic aspects of cinema and has edited a book on Jacques Demy (Editions 303) as well as D’autres continents – mouvances du cinéma présent (Warm).

Patrick Facchinetti

Graduated of a Master's degree in Contemporary History (Paris I – La Sorbonne) and a DESS in Strategies of cultural development (University of Avignon and the Pays du Vaucluse), Facchinetti spent six years at the FILL (interregional federation book and reading) where it ensures the coordination of cultural and artistic actions for the benefit of priority audiences, who have no access to culture purposes. In 2007, he founded the association Résonance culture, an association that promotes the development of artistic and cultural actions aimed at audiences who are distant from it for social, geographical or physical reasons. He was at the initiative of the national system Images in memory, Images in mirror, a system of image education intended for the public in the hands of justice (adults and minors) and the inhabitants of working-class neighborhoods. Since the end of 2017, Patrick Facchinetti is the General Delegate of the national association L'Archipel des lucioles – National Education by Images network, which ensures the national coordination of Education by Images system (Kindergarten in cinema, School and Cinema, Cinema College, Passeurs d'images), and the program of Des cinés, la vie!
